Trichostatin A ist ein natürliches Derivat von Dienohydroxaminsäure, das von Spezies der Bakterien-Gattung Streptomyces isoliert ist. Trichostatin A (TSA) reversibel und hemmt sich reversibel und hemmt insbesondere Histondeacetylasen, was zu einer Hyperacetylierung von Kernhistonen führt, die Chromatinstruktur modulieren. Die Erhöhung der Histonacetylierung fördert selektives Gentranskription und die Hemmung des Tumorwachstums.
